Upgrading of Tininver Park Shed for bike storage
The DDCA has secured the lease on the Tininver park shed for 20 years, and we have upgraded it into a secure, functional and attractive building to store our growing collection of bikes for hire.
So far, Charles W. Pirie has replaced the old asbestos roof for free and the Smiddy has fortified our defences with a set of double doors and a single side door, each made of thick steel and requiring the blockwork to be reinforced.
We hope to slab around the shed – Please get in touch if you are able to volunteer your time to help us with this.
Bike Dufftown supports key workers during the COVID19 pandemic
Transport Scotland made funding available for community groups to buy eBikes and loan them out to key workers for use when commuting and traveling for work. The key themes revolve around reducing emissions of carbon dioxide which contribute to Climate Change while also encouraging a healthier lifestyle.
The DDCA was successful in receiving £20,000 of funding which was used for purchasing a mixture of eBikes and eMTBs of varying sizes.
A long-term eBike loan scheme was set up for key workers in the area. DDCA gathered expressions of interest and identified eligible users.
The first key worker loan scheme ended in summer 2022.
