We hope you’re enjoying the summer and thank you, as always, for your continued support of Dufftown and District Community Association.
Community Action Plan Update
A huge thank you to everyone who attended our recent Community Forum. It was a positive evening with some great discussions, and we’re making good progress on the public consultation for our new Community Action Plan.
The consultation will remain open until September, after which we’ll begin drafting the plan that will help shape priorities for our community over the coming years.
If you haven’t yet completed the survey, there’s still plenty of time. You can fill it in online here:

Paper copies are also available from the Food Larder.
Every response helps ensure the plan reflects what matters most to our community.
Clock Tower Fundraising
As many of you know, we’ve recently faced a significant increase in the building insurance costs for the Clock Tower. The annual premium has risen to around £2,600, meaning we’ve had to use our reserves to cover this unexpected expense.
We’ve set ourselves a fundraising target of £2,000 to help replenish those reserves and ensure we can continue protecting this important community asset while we work towards the capital restoration project.
The Raffle at the first Summer Ceilidhs will play an important part in this fundraising effort . If you can donate a raffle prize, buy raffle tickets or even share fundraising ideas with us, we would be incredibly grateful for your support.
Summer Ceilidhs
We hope you’ll be able to join us at this year’s Summer Ceilidhs. They promise to be fantastic evenings of music, dancing and community spirit.
Please help us spread the word to friends, family and visitors. The more people who come along, the better the nights will be for everyone involved.
A micro grant has helped towards some of the costs, but ticket sales are still essential to cover the remaining costs of the bands.
Prosperity Fund Success
We’ve recently completed the report for this year’s £7,000 funding from The Robertson Trust, which supported our work to improve prosperity in Dufftown.
Thanks to this funding we’ve delivered a wide range of activities including Make Do and Mend sessions, cooking classes, Warm Spaces lunches and Traditional Building Skills workshops.
Our recent Bike Dr events in Dufftown and Glenrinnes were another great success, with almost 30 bikes checked over and given small repairs, helping people of all ages enjoy a safe summer on two wheels.
E-bike Hire
Our e-bikes continue to be available free of charge for local residents thanks to the continued support of HiTrans and The Robertson Trust. Our Ebike Lockers are now here and we are just making the final touches to install them but we would just like to say a big thank you to the Bike Dufftown Volunteers- it has been a busy time with the bikes and they have been fab!
To book an e-bike, email bookings@dufftowncommunity.co.
Get Involved
We’re always keen to welcome new members and volunteers to help support the work of the Association.
We’re also currently looking for a Treasurer to join our Board. If you’d like to find out more about getting involved, we’d love to hear from you.
Thank you once again for your continued support. Everything we achieve is only possible because of the time, enthusiasm and generosity of our members, volunteers and supporters.
We hope to see many of you over the summer.
