A look back at what’s been happening at DDCA
It’s been another busy month at Dufftown & District Community Association, with exciting news, new activities and plenty happening across the community. Here’s a little round-up of what we’ve been up to and what’s coming next!
Exciting news for the Clock Tower!
We were delighted to share the news with our members yesterday that DDCA has secured a £43,990 development grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to money raised by National Lottery players.
This is a huge milestone for our Clock Tower project and means we can now move forward with the detailed development work needed to bring our plans to life. It’s an exciting step towards securing a future for one of Dufftown’s most iconic buildings, and we’ll keep you updated as the project progresses!
Save the date: DDCA AGM
Our Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday 2 November 2026, from 7pm to 9pm.
The venue is still to be confirmed, but please pop the date in your diary. Our AGM is a great opportunity to hear what DDCA has been doing, find out what’s coming up and get involved in shaping the future of our community association.
More details will follow soon.
Our first Community Social Afternoon was a huge success!
We were thrilled to welcome around 35 people to our first Community Social Afternoon, which was a fantastic afternoon of fun, friendship and entertainment.
A huge thank you to Eddie and Mike for joining us and keeping everyone entertained, and to everyone who came along and helped make it such a success.
Our next afternoon will take place on Wednesday 21 October, from 1pm to 3pm, in the Small Hall at Mortlach Memorial Hall.
This time, we’ll be joined by Catherine and Myrtle, who we’ve heard so many wonderful things about. We’re really looking forward to welcoming them!
Everyone is welcome, so come along for a relaxed afternoon of company, entertainment and a good blether.
Make Do & Mend is in full swing!
Our Make Do & Mend sessions have been going from strength to strength, with both our adult sewing sessions and family sessions proving really popular.
It’s wonderful to see people coming together to learn new skills, get creative and enjoy some time sewing in good company.
We’ve now released dates for the coming month, so keep an eye on our Facebook page for the latest information about sessions and how to get involved.
Whether you’re an experienced sewer or a complete beginner, we’d love to see you!
Six new e-bikes have arrived!
We’ve got some exciting news for all our cycling enthusiasts. Our six new e-bikes have arrived!
We’re now working on getting the security and tracking systems in place to help keep the bikes safe before adding them to the Bike Dufftown hire fleet.
In the meantime, we still have funding available through HiTrans to support free e-bike hire for local residents.
If you’ve been thinking about getting out and exploring the local area on two wheels, why not give us a shout? Whether you’re looking to try an e-bike for the first time or enjoy a longer adventure, we’d love to help you get out and about.
Shaping our Community Action Plan
Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts and ideas during our Community Action Plan consultation. In the middle of September, we held a Community Forum to discuss the findings and begin turning your feedback into a plan for the future of Dufftown and District. A draft plan has now been shared with community groups for their input, and once we’ve gathered their feedback and refined the draft, we’ll share it with the wider community for your thoughts, ideas and suggestions before completing the final document. This is our community’s plan, shaped by the people who live, work and volunteer here, and we want to make sure it reflects what matters most to you.
Get involved with DDCA
We’re here to support our community, but we couldn’t do it without the people who get involved, volunteer, come along to activities and support what we do.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us, joined an activity, volunteered or helped spread the word. Here’s to another busy month in Dufftown and District!
Keep an eye on our Facebook page and website for the latest news, activities and events.
