On December 13th 2023, we held our quarterly Dufftown & District Community Forum at the Royal British Legion here in Dufftown. The focus of this forum was to help shape the future of the EDF Dorenell Windfarm Community Benefit Fund. The fund has been set up to benefit people who live in the areas of Moray served by:
· Cabrach Community Association
· Dufftown and District Community Association
· Glenlivet and Inveravon Community Association
· Glenrinnes Community Centre
The fund supports community-led charitable activities, with recommendations on grant awards being made by a panel which has members drawn from across the four communities. The fund has now been distributing grants for three years.
Foundation Scotland, the independent charity managing the fund, has commissioned a review of the fund strategy to ensure the fund continues to meet the needs of the local community. The review is being carried out by Bea Jefferson, who has been gathering data from fund awards, an online survey, public drop-ins and talking to fund stakeholders.
At our forum meeting, Bea came along and outlined her findings so far. Some key facts about the fund are shown below.
The full fund review findings and recommendations are expected to be delivered in early 2024.
